Data Governance

Data Governance

Data governance (DG) refers to the overall management of the availability, usability, integrity, and security of the data employed in an enterprise. A sound data governance program includes a governing body or council, a defined set of procedures, and a plan to execute those procedures

Let the pictures explain more about data governance...

Robotic surgery

What do you think about Robotic surgery!

In operating room, usually you will find more than one surgeon and several nurses. But with robotic surgery will eliminate the need for some personnel. Surgery may require only one surgeon, an anesthesiologist and one or two nurses.

The doctor sits at a computer console, either in or outside the operating room, using the surgical robot to accomplish what it once took a crowd of people to perform.

The use of a computer console to perform operations from a distance opens up the idea of telesurgery, which would involve a doctor performing delicate surgery miles away from the patient.

If it were possible to use the computer console to move the robotic arms in real-time, then it would be possible for a doctor in California to operate on a patient in New York.

A major obstacle in telesurgery has been latency -- the time delay between the doctor moving his or her hands to the robotic arms responding to those movements.

Now, with these few information about the Robotic surgery. What do you think about robotic surgery?

If you are the patient, do you accept to undergo this robotic surgery?

Information Systems vs Infomation Technology

            Information Systems VS Information Technology

Many students are confused about the difference between information systems ( IS) and information technology (IT) . This simple blog will explain some differences between them .

IS is a combination of people, hardware, software, communication devices, network and data resources that processes data and information for a specific purpose. Sometimes IS is described as a large umbrella referring to systems designed to create, store, manipulate, or disseminate information.

This picture describes the types of systems.

However, IT is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. In addition, IT  falls under the information systems umbrella, but has nothing to do with systems per say.

Example of an information system is a pencil and a piece of paper. The two objects themselves are just tools, but together they create a system for writing (information). However, each one of the mentioned parts of this information system in itself is an information technology.

IS requires the business skills to thrive in the Board Room and learn enough about the technology to make sound strategic decisions. On the other hand, IT generally consists of planning and deploying networking infrastructure or integrate databases or build significant Web sites. Finally, IS deals with the business side of technology as IT deals with the technical side.
